All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Polo was given to a friend to 'watch' and when it came time to pick him up, she told her friend to 'find someplace else for him'

Fortunately, the friend was familiar with our rescue and reached out.  We immediately agreed to help this little boy.

Not chipped, not neutered, but was up-to-date on vaccines, we finished his vetting and got him groomed and he'll be neutered next week!

He gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home.  Typical playful pup!  

Surrenderer said he displayed aggression with new people and men in particular, but that has not been this foster's experience.  

Polo's perfect home will be a mature family with kids over 10.  Maybe a single mom?  or a home with another similar sized dog.  PLEASE -  NO LARGE (over 30# dogs)

This is a puppy.  He was never given ANY training, and when his behavior was problematic, instead of HELPING him, they dumped him on a friend.  His adopter should be prepared for Puppy behavior and willing to engage a trainer to help this baby become a great family member!

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
