All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Adopted from the  Kerrville, Tx. Freeman Fritts Animal Shelter. A small no kill shelter. and returned after 4 months.  The family reported Phoenix was aggressive to the husband.  The shelter reached out to us for help.

Phoenix was transported to us and displayed some fear aggression while in the kennel at the vet.

Our volunteer foster went to pick her up and got her back home where she once again, displayed aggression and bit the foster as she tried to carry her inside from the car.  This dog clearly has issues.  She can only be placed in a home with an experienced dog owner.  She is going to need time to learn to trust and may always be a bite risk.  Her adopter must be prepared to help her decompress, and trust.  Her aggression is fear based.  She may never get completely over it.  

When she's not in fear, she is a  happy playful sweet girl!

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
