All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Max was abandoned along with his sister in the rent house his owner lived in.  Amazingly, he is HW negative.  Max was given the Pro-Heart + injection for 6 months HW protection.

His eyes are clouded with cataracts.  We'll get him to an eye specialist to check suitability for cataract surgery.

Not much more is known about this boy.  He was being fed garbage. (Beneful) and has bad teeth.  We will send him for a dental, and probably need a full mouth extraction.  

UPDATE:

Max has been fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He has had his teeth cleaned and luckily, he did not lose any more of his teeth in the process. His foster mom has also taken him to the ophthalmologist who indicated that he does have cataracts, but he is not a candidate for cataract surgery. He noted that he is pre-glaucoma and prescribed eye drops.

Max is still looking for his forever home with someone that doesn’t leave him for extended periods of time. He is a sweet, playful and loving dog that is good with both people and other dogs . He is housebroken, walks well on a leash, good with car rides and does very well in a kennel at night .

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
