Elsa needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Meet happy little Elsa! When Yorkie Rescue Houston found Elsa, she had a large mammary tumor that needed to be removed. During the surgery to spay her and remove the tumor, two large ovarian cysts were also found/removed. The vet said we rescued Elsa just in time...as the cysts were ready to burst. But look at Elsa now! She's a happy and gentle little dog who loves being around her people. She gets along fine with other dogs and cats. She 's also done well with children -- in fact an 8 year old quickly taught Elsa to play fetch and drop the toy at her feet! Smart pup! Elsa loves playing outside and walks well on a leash. She seems to be pretty well housetrained. She enjoys curling up on the corner of the bed and will wait for you to call her over, then happily plop her head in your lap. She's such a sweetheart!

Her foster mom reports that while Elsa is very quiet when someone is with her, she barks while left alone -- likely worried that she's being abandoned again.  Hopefully once she settles into a 'forever' situation and feels secure, this will stop.  However, for this reason, it is recommended that Elsa be adopted into a house (vs. an apartment -- where neighbors may not appreciate her barking while the owner is away).
