All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This precious boy was surrendered when he experienced an unfortunate incident of paraphimosis   With patience and gentle manipulation we were able to restore his genitals to their proper position.  

Milo's adopter should be prepared to learn how to help him recover should this occur again.  Left unaided, paraphimosis can lead to dire consequences including amputation and or death from sepsis.

Otherwise, he is a delightful little puppy with a calm demeanor, and playful disposition.

He did great in the car, and slept in his kennel with no complaints.

We did surgery on this boy to slightly enlarge the opening of the tissue.  He has not experienced another episode.

Milo seems to have his wires crossed.  Growling inappropriately.  He growls when being loved on, he growls when feeding, he growls.  I now think of it as 'purring'.  He's still slightly fearful of being picked up.  But he is learning to trust and to seek out love.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
