All applications from 2023 have been purged. 

All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Update from foster:

He has taken a liking to everyone, male or female. 

He loves giving kisses and climbing in your lap.

He is definitely potty trained. 

He does startle easily especially if it is in a dark room. He growls and snarls sometimes when approached. I think he gets scared with shapes coming towards him but then settles down once he realizes who it is.

He loves playing with our Yorkie, Whiskey.  They wrestle and play tug a war all the time when they aren't sleeping He is an escape artist. He has showed us where our fence needed to be fixed. He is very skinny and long so he can get through small areas unlike our chunky Whiskey.

He can be vocal when playing.

He loves to sleep in the bed and prefers to go under the covers and lay up against you.

Precious Pepper was surrendered by his mom as part of her 'exit strategy'.  See., mom was a victim of domestic violence.   She reached out to us for help.  We, of course, said yes.

Pepper prefers women to men (naturally) and is a bit shy.  He gets along with the other dogs, but does not seek their company. 

Pepper is going to need a home where there is harmony and serenity.  He is 'shell-shocked'  Pepper is a very sweet little dog who has been well vetted and cared for.  Pepper prefers to sleep in the bed with his person.

He is said to be a 'playful barker' although we have not heard him be vocal.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
