All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Clifford was adopted and brought back within 6 hours!

Applicant indicated he marked EVERYTHING/EVERYWHERE even after going outside to pee.

I agreed to take him back, because I don't want anyone to not absolutely love their new family member.  Clifford's original surrender form indicated he was housebroke.

I am modifying that to 'NO!' and if that is a 'deal breaker' for you.  DO NOT APPLY!

Belly Bands are an appropriate solution for dogs that mark.  Once the 'newness' of a place wears off, they typically will no longer mark.

Clifford was surrendered to our rescue when his dad passed away.  He was well loved and cared for.

Clifford is said to be cat friendly.  He gets along with the other dogs in our program.  He's a cuddler!  He loves attention.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
