All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

UPDATE: Betty White is a sweet girl who doesn't realize she is not a small dog but weights almost 20 pounds. She is an active dog that will require someone that enjoys playing and walking her. At night she likes nothing more than to crash by your side on the couch. Due to her activity level and size she would probably not be a good fit for seniors. 

Betty White was picked up from the Pasadena Animal Control. The shelter believes that she is about 6 years old and was listed as a Maltese, but she is probably mixed of Bichon Frise and Lhasa Apso (no guarantees). She was greatly in need of grooming when we picked her up and WOW what a transformation. She is a very sweet girl who maybe a little timid at first, plays well with other dogs and is described as a happy dog. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, rabies, has been spayed and microchipped. She is ready for her forever home.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
