All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Abandoned by his owner with  'friend'  the friend surrendered the dog to the Montgomery county animal shelter when he reportedly bit the family's child.  We have seen no aggressive behavior from this sweet dog since we've had him.  Upon intake, we walked him on a leash, while he tugs on the leash, we noted no aggression when we bend down to pick him up.  in fact, he rolled on his back and bared his tummy in an act of submission.  that is the opposite of aggression.  Suspect this poor pup was just not wanted and felt it in the former environment.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
