All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Harley2 came to us from one of the shelters. He is approximately 3 years old and heartworm positive. Since he will be receiving treatment for his heartworms, we have placed him in our Foster-To-Adopt (FTA) program. This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon testing negative for heartworms, we complete the adoption contract. He is a very sweet and quiet soul who may blossom after getting into his foster home. 

As a foster, you would be required to get Harley2 to our vet (in Spring) for routine care visits (the rescue pays for this).

If this is a problem your application cannot be approved.  

Upon review, a volunteer will contact you if there are questions.  Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions.  Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.

If approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedual  a 'Meet & Greet'  

Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster-to-adopt Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee.  (Our adoption fee varies by dog and payable by cash only.)  Please take the time to READ the contract.  If the terms are NOT AGREEABLE, please do not submit your application.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
