All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

UPDATE: 7/24/20 We have had some time to get acquainted with Bronx. He is an energetic dog that will need an active family who loves to throw his toy. Once he has expended his energy he will roll over and let you rub his belly. We have noticed that he gets excited and growls and nips when playing. He also has a tendency to nip when he is caught off guard or feels he needs to escape. For this reason we are amending our original statement and will only consider families with older kids.

This little energetic boy is a bundle of fun. He comes to us as an owner surrender who was moving and not able to care for him anymore. The previous owner indicates that he loves to play with balls, he knows some of the basic commands like sit but hasn't mastered stay yet. He loves attention, playing with toys and after all that he will come and ask you to give him a belly rub. We are looking for a family with kids to help him burn his energy up. No kids under 5 please. Do you have the right home for this energizer bunny?

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
