All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Abby was adopted from an independent rescuer a year ago.  As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, she lost her home and could not take Abby with her.  The independent asked if we could help!  (well OF COURSE we can!!)  YRH will help almost ANY dog in need (provided the adult weight does not exceed 15 pounds)

Imagine my surprise when I got Abby and learned she had been 'adopted' for a year and STILL NOT SPAYED  (what???  that's not legal in Texas) We also learned she was not microchipped.  So, we immediately had her vaccinated, chipped and spayed.  She is now fully vetted  and ready to find her REAL forever home.

This little girl LOVES kids!!  She is a friendly girl, and does well with adults, but adores children.  Abby at first was afraid of my husband, but has since learned to love and trust men.

She gets along great with other dogs, and not bothered by cats

Yorkie Rescue Houston is a 501(c)(3) charity as defined by the I.R.S.  All donations* are deductible within the limits set by them.  Your donations go toward medical exams, vaccinations, spay & neuter, medications, Heartworm treatment and prevention, supplies, boarding, training.  We rely  100% on donations from the public.  Please consider a becoming a sponsor or monthly donor!  You can send us donations via paypal to donate@yorkierescuehouston.org

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
