All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Missy has developed into a love bug. At first she just wanted to stand in your lap but she has learned to love and trust people. No problem with visitors and rarely barks.   She gets a little protective when she’s in your lap. She will growl a little when other dogs approach. Once on the ground she’s running the back yard with the labs chasing squirrels.   She will be best in a home where she is the only dog.  She's calm,  house broken and crate trained. She uses the doggie door. She is a larger yorkie, not a diva, great appetite and would make a great companion from someone who is looking for a easy keeper.

We have updated  Missy's profile to indicate her adopter must have a yard.   She loves to run.  Having a dog with too much pent up energy may result in behavior issues.  That's not setting her up for success.

Missy was surrendered to the Montgomery County animal shelter with her hind quarter shaved off.  We are not sure if that was because she was so badly matted, or flea infested, but either way, we got her to the groomer for a 'full body shave'.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
