All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Josie (shelter named him Joshie, hated that. so renamed Josie) was pulled from Ft. Bend animal shelter.  He was originally said to be 'bitey' and was handed off wrapped in a towel.  This amazing dog has been nothing but perfect since we've had him.  He was so stressed at the shelter, and on intake he would not tolerate an oral exam.  So we did that while he was 'under' for he neuter.  Vet estimated him to be about 1.

He has perfect manners.  He's gentle, sweet... calm, laid back.  He's the Mary Poppins of dogs.. "Practically perfect in every way!"

He has 2 ear infections and they are being treated.  

He gets along with all the other dogs, isn't dominant, aggressive or intolerant.  

Yorkie Rescue Houston is a 501(c)(3) charity as defined by the I.R.S.  All donations* are deductible within the limits set by them.  Your donations go toward medical exams, vaccinations, spay & neuter, medications, Heartworm treatment and prevention, supplies, boarding, training.  We rely  100% on donations from the public.  Please consider a becoming a sponsor or monthly donor!  You can send us donations via paypal to donate@yorkierescuehouston.org

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
