All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

**Update: This sweet girl is doing great. Had her heartworm shot almost a week ago. She will be the best friend to whomever adopts her. She is attentive and loves to be with her person. You need a cuddle buddy? Cindy is your girl. She likes to eat and have her tummy rubbed. She is not fond of cats and does tend to be jealous of other dogs. We are working on that. Her ideal home would be someone looking for a companion. She does have a small spot in the center of one eye but it does not appear to impede her vision. Her hairless spots are filling in and she is growing a beautiful coat.

Cindy's ideal home will be with a retired couple/adult.  She's is a 'people dog' preferring the company of her humans than that of other animals.  ABSOLUTELY NO CATS

Can she come be the center of your world?

This poor baby has been neglected a good long while.  Taken in after found roaming the streets in horrible condition, no tags, no chip.  The Good Samaritans attempted to find an owner, but none came forward.  They asked for our help.  She needs eye meds, ear meds, skin meds.  and a dental to clean her remaining 3 teeth.

Sadly she is heartworm positive.  She is currently receiving her initial stages of treatment.

30 days of Doxycycline.  Then, a 'fast kill' injection, followed by 30 days crate rest. Then, back to the vet for 'back to back injections' and 30 more days of crate rest.

She will need to be kept calm and sedate throughout this period.  She is available FOSTER-to-ADOPT only.

As a result, she must be placed in 'foster to adopt' homes.  This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon satisfying the HW treatment we complete the adoption contract.

As a foster, you would be required to get the puppy to our vet (on 1960 in N. Houston, TX) for her treatments.  (the rescue pays for this).

If this is a problem your application cannot be approved.

You may apply to adopt from us directly from our web site.  Please visit www.yorkierescuehouston.org/forms and submit your application.  Upon review, a volunteer will contact you if there are questions.  Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions.  Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.

If approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedule  a 'Meet & Greet'

Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee.  (Our adoption fee varies by dog and payable by cash only.)

We usually arrange our M&G at this PetSmart

Donations are accepted via paypal

Please be patient if our response time is not as quick as you'd like.  We are all volunteers and do as much as we can when we can.  However, if we notify you that your application was approved and we’d like to arrange a M&G, you must respond within 24 hours or we will move on to the next applicant.

Good luck, and thank you for considering adoption.
