All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This puppy requires a full-time 'stay at home' parent.  Please do not apply if you are away from home more than 4 hours a day

Since the puppy is too young to be spayed, she cannot be legally adopted yet.  As a result, she may be placed in 'foster to adopt' homes.  This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon satisfying the spay requirement and all vaccines, we complete the adoption contract. 

As a foster, you would be required to get the puppy to our vet (in Spring) for regular visits for vaccinations and her spay appointment (the rescue pays for this).

If this is a problem your application cannot be approved.  Local applicants only, please.

Puppy placements require a home visit.  Your application answers will help us determine if your home is the right home for this puppy.  Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions.  Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.

Once approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedule  a home visit.  This may be done in person or virtually, at the foster's discretion.

Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster-to-adopt Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee at time of placement.  The other half will be due upon final vetting.  Please take the time to review the contract.  If the terms are NOT AGREEABLE, please do not submit your application.

Adoption fees are payable in CASH or VENMO.

Please be patient if our response time is not as quick as you'd like.  We are all volunteers and do as much as we can when we can.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
