All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Ziggy showed up at the Humble Animal Shelter with what can only be described as a HUGE bulge in his scrotal area.  The tumor was removed during his neuter, and it was determined to be cancerous.  The 'cure' is removal!. - Done!

Then, his fostermom observed blood in his urine...back to the vet.  Tests revealed bladder stones and a blockage in his urethra.  After an attempt to push them back into the bladder failed, the only recourse was  a procedure  called Penile Amputation and Urethrostomy. Basically, his penis was removed and his urethra altered to allow him to urinate more like a female.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
