All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Meet Button.....as in cute as a Button!  This little guy is such a character.  Tons of personality!  Gets along great with other dogs, kids, etc.  Has had limited exposure to cats and is certainly interested -- but hasn't shown any type of aggression towards them.  He's definitely got a silly side...he likes crawl on his belly (reminds his foster Mom of GI Joe) sometimes...roll around on his back...wrestle with his dog brother....chase squirrels and lizards...  He's just a really happy little dog. 

For the most part he's pretty quiet.  He has a really piercing bark -- but you only hear it when he's excited (when foster mom gets home from work, etc.).  When he and his dog brother are wrestling, he's does a little 'play growling'....even has an adorable little howl.  So cute!

Housetraining is coming along nicely.  Right now he's on a consistent schedule where he knows when he'll get to go out next and we haven't had any accidents in the last several weeks (probably since the first week or so he was at his foster mom's house).  He learned really quickly to walk on a leash.  He can be a bit of an 'alpha' dog -- meaning he can get jealous when he sees his foster mom loving on her own dog, etc.

~~~~Button came to us from Montgomery County Animal Shelter.  He is approximately three years old.  Button is heart worm positive so he is available only under our foster to adopt program until he is free of heart worms.  You may complete a foster to adopt application.

He will make an awesome addition to someone's home.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
