All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This sweet girl was discarded like trash and was picked up as a stray by the Baytown Animal Shelter.  She was in horrible condition.  We wasted no time in getting her into care, and was shocked and saddened by what we found.  Ruth must have been in excruciating pain.

She had 5 'free floating' fetus' in her abdomen.  They ruptured from her uterus and were killing her.

in addition, she was high heartworm positive.

Immediate surgery was done to help her heal and repair.  She was spayed, chipped, vaccinated, and treated for her heartworm disease.

Ruth has recovered from her heartworm treatment and is looking for her happily ever after.

Her adopter must be prepared to keep this precious girl on heartworm prevention for the rest of her life.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
