All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This adorable little girl was found running around in a pack of dogs and she was not fairing well on the streets. She was found in the streets of the South side (a location known for dumping dogs) by a good Samaritan. This sweet girl followed the good Samaritan around and would not let her leave her there on the streets. She was unable to keep her so she contacted us and ask us to help find this young dog a good home. 

Natasha, nicknamed "Natty" by her foster mom, is a sweet and lovable young puppy who is approximately 4 months old. We believe that she is a mixture of Poodle and Maltese - best guess - no guarantees. She has been to our veterinarian -  her fecal results were negative and she appears to be in good health. She received her first set of vaccinations and has been microchipped on 1/14/19. She will need to return to the vet for booster shots in 3 weeks. 

Since the puppy is too young to be spayed, she cannot be legally adopted yet.  As a result, she must be placed in 'foster to adopt' homes.  This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon satisfying the spay/neuter requirement when the dog reaching appropriate age, we complete the adoption contract.  Our vet said they can begin spayed at appx 4 months of age.

As a foster, you would be required to get the puppy to our vet (in Spring, TX) for regular visits for vaccinations and her spay appointment (the rescue pays for this).

If this is a problem your application cannot be approved.

You may apply to adopt from us directly from our web site.  Please visit www.yorkierescuehouston.org/forms and submit your application.  Upon review, a volunteer will contact you if there are questions.  Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions.  Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.

If approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedual  a 'Meet & Greet'  

Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee.  (Our adoption fee varies by dog and payable by cash only.)

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
