Bruno4 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Bruno came into rescue as an owner surrender.  The family has had him since he was a puppy but he recently began misbehaving and showing some aggression to the child in the home.  (The child is 4 and they family has an infant also) Rather than take a chance on someone getting hurt, they decided it was in everyone's best interest if Bruno found a home where children were not putting him at risk.

Owner reports that Bruno is not a fan of 'company' and has shown some protective behaviors.

The vet staff reported his was stressed during his work up and was 'bitey'.

This poor lamb just needs the right environment where he can trust and be loved.

He seems to get along with other dogs, and was very pleasant in his foster home.

Bruno's foster mom says:

******************************************

So Bruno is the perfect little gentleman. He is a quiet one who loves to play fetch, but is still mastering the art of bring the toy back.

He is not a fan of kids, and I see that he is super protective of his person. As soon as he hears a neighbor or a car, he hops up and wants to defend and protect you from the big car outside.

He's learning that he can be friendly with others but it’ll take some more patience.

He loves his walks and will definitely let you know if he feels your moving too slow.

He is potty trained and lovesssss to cuddle.
He will head butt your arm until you give in and rub his belly.

He seems to be afraid of stairs and will not climb them unassisted. But he will gladly wait for you at the bottom.

He is not a crier but will bark at unfamiliar noises.

It will take some time for him to warm up to you and when he does he will steal your heart.

I feel he will definitely need a home where someone can pay him all the attention he desires and will have time for him on a consistent basis.

He needs to feel apart of the family and that you won’t hurt him.
